Planemaker Airbus has signed a deal with robotics firm UBTech for the latter to supply robots for use in aviation manufacturing.
Reportedly, Airbus has already purchased UBTech’s latest industrial humanoid robot, the Walker S2,
The company said total orders of its robots exceeded 1.4 billion yuan, equivalent to about $200 million, last year, with production set to reach 10,000 units in 2026.
Introduced in July last year, Walker S2 stands about 1.76 metres tall and is equipped with dexterous arms and hands and a vision system to enable humanlike movement and perception of its surrounding environments in a factory.
In 2025 UBTech’s total humanoid robot order value exceeded 1.4 billion yuan, the company said. Production capacity for its industrial humanoid robots is expected to exceed 10,000 units in 2026.
Airbus will now seek to deploy UBTech robotics throughout its manufacturing, with the company not ruling out further purchases following successful utilisation.
