Toshiba Corporation and Kazakhstan’s national postal operator, Qazpost JSC, have agreed to collaborate on improving warehouse efficiency through the use of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs).
According to a letter of intent (LOI) signed on 19 December, the companies aim to support the full-scale introduction of a Goods-to-Person (G2P) system at customer sites.
Earlier this year, Toshiba and Qazpost jointly demonstrated the G2P system at Qazpost’s Astana fulfilment hub. The system uses AMRs to transport entire shelves of products directly to pickers, automatically delivering required items. The demonstration resulted in improved operational efficiency and a reduction in picking errors, Toshiba said.
Building on this success, Qazpost will now collect customer requirements and work with Toshiba to co-create operational models and propose warehouse efficiency solutions using Toshiba’s AMR technology.
The collaboration also includes plans to relocate Toshiba’s AMR demonstration kit from the Astana site to customer facilities for trial use.
Toshiba said it aims to secure new orders for the system in the first half of fiscal year 2026.
With Central Asia emerging as a growing logistics hub, Toshiba said it remains committed to advancing innovation and operational excellence in the region’s postal and logistics sectors.
The company also conducted a demonstration of enhanced postal sorting efficiency in Azerbaijan in March 2025.
The latest LOI was signed at Toshiba’s headquarters in Kawasaki, Japan, by Azamat Keskinbayev, chief financial officer of Qazpost, and Iwao Tsuji, corporate vice president of Toshiba.
