Advanced manufacturing solutions company Caracol has announced that it has acquired intellectual property and robotic machine-configuration assets from the additive division of Hans Weber Maschinenfabrik.
The acquisition aims to integrate Weber’s technology into its large-format additive manufacturing (LFAM) portfolio and strengthen Caracol’s position in the DACH region (Austria, Germany, and Switzerland).
The company said customers using Weber’s additive solutions will receive continued support via Caracol’s global field and service network spanning more than 55 countries, with Weber remaining a partner on extrusion technology and contributing to product development.
Caracol added that the deal forms part of a wider European investment plan intended to give industrial users broader options on controls and automation, including configurations such as Siemens control systems and ABB robots.
“This agreement combines heritage with innovation, by two companies united by shared values: progressiveness, engineering excellence, and a customer-centric mindset,” said Francesco De Stefano, CEO and co-founder of Caracol.
“Thanks to the partnership with Weber, Caracol clients will be able to access Heron platforms with a broader level of customisation and configurations to satisfy their specific industrial needs.”
Hans Weber’s managing directors, Dr Markus Weber and Ludwig Weber, said the decision followed an evaluation of multiple proposals.
“We chose to sign this deal with Caracol… They are a leader in the large-format AM market, have built a global support network, and have know-how on key applications and industry verticals,” adding that the company is “the best” to guide existing customers in implementing LFAM technology.
Caracol said the acquisition is intended to accelerate adoption and industrialisation of LFAM across sectors such as aerospace, marine, energy, construction and design.
The firm, founded in 2017 in Milan, Italy, offers turnkey LFAM systems including its Heron AM platform for polymer and composite applications and its Vipra AM system for large-scale metal parts.
It operates what it describes as Europe’s largest LFAM production centre, has been active in North America since 2023 and in September 2025 opened new headquarters and a production centre in Austin, Texas, alongside a commercial office in Dubai.
