Apotea, Sweden’s largest online pharmacy, has officially opened a new highly automated logistics centre in Varberg, Sweden, with SSI Schaefer.
The facility is designed to manage more than 50,000 customer orders daily, a figure that could rise to 70,000 as demand increases. The site will process more than 150,000 order lines per day and handle upwards of 30,000 unique pharmaceutical and health-related products.
The new warehouse represents a major investment in automation and efficiency. It integrates advanced robotics, high-speed order picking systems, and software that allows for the seamless flow of goods from inbound deliveries to outbound shipments.
“This new warehouse is equipped with a perfect automation solution developed in collaboration with SSI SCHAEFER,” said Apotea CEO Pär Svärdson. “It makes us even more efficient and well-prepared for continued growth, but, above all, it means faster service for residents in southern Sweden.”
The facility also reflects Apotea’s growing emphasis on sustainability and scalability. With increased capacity and the use of energy-efficient technology, the company aims to meet future growth while reducing its environmental footprint.
The project was completed on schedule and is now fully operational.
