Amazon Web Services (AWS) and HUMAIN, Saudi Arabia’s newly established artificial intelligence (AI) innovation company, have announced a strategic partnership worth more than US$5bn to develop an “AI Zone” in the Kingdom.
The AI Zone, will be the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia and will feature AWS infrastructure, including AI servers, UltraCluster networking, and AI application services such as Amazon SageMaker, Bedrock, and Amazon Q.

The zone is designed to accelerate AI adoption across key sectors and serve both local and global demand for advanced AI services.
This new investment builds on AWS’s previously announced US$5.3bn (SAR 19.88bn) commitment to establish a new AWS Region in Saudi Arabia by 2026.
The AI Zone represents an additional effort to strengthen the Kingdom’s digital economy and support AI-driven transformation across industries.
HUMAIN, which leads Saudi Arabia’s national AI strategy, will work with AWS to co-develop AI solutions for businesses and government bodies.
Plans include the creation of an AI agent marketplace to streamline access to AI tools, and the advancement of Arabic Large Language Models (ALLaMs) to support AI development in Arabic-speaking regions.
The initiative targets transformation in key areas including government services, healthcare, energy, and education. Use cases range from personalised learning experiences and early disease diagnosis, to AI-enhanced public administration.
These applications will be supported by the AWS Generative AI Innovation Center in partnership with HUMAIN.
In support of digital upskilling, AWS has committed to training 100,000 people in the country in cloud and generative AI technologies. Training will be delivered through the Amazon Academy, the region’s largest tech skills initiative, in partnership with the Public Investment Fund.
Matt Garman, CEO, Amazon Web Services, said: “This collaboration to build an AI Zone in Saudi Arabia will enable innovations across all industries using AWS’s advanced AI offerings, and reflects our commitment to support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.”
