Warehouse and parcel automation specialist Fortna has been selected by Ram Hand-to-Hand Couriers to deliver automation for a new distribution centre in Isando, Kempton Park, Johannesburg, as the South African courier company looks to expand sorting capacity and improve parcel flow across its network.
According to Fortna, the site will operate both as a central hub for Ram’s national network and as a last-mile depot for local deliveries.
The companies said the facility is intended to help Ram scale as parcel volumes grow and customer expectations increase around delivery speed and flexibility.
Fortna said the solution has been custom engineered to fit the building footprint and Ram’s operational requirements.
It will include end-to-end automation, real-time track-and-trace visibility and management of inbound and outbound flows, with a design intended to support future capacity expansion.
