Saga Robotics has secured £8.4 million in equity funding to support the commercial expansion of its autonomous agricultural platform, Thorvald, in the UK and the United States.
The investment marks a key milestone for the company as it moves from early market traction to broader commercial deployment.
The funding round attracted participation from both new and returning investors. New backers include Luxembourg-based venture capital firm Praesidium Agri-FoodTech, which focuses on scalable agtech solutions.

Existing investors such as Aker, Nysnø Climate Investments, Blystad, Hatteland, Melesio, Sanden, and MP Pensjon also contributed to the raise.
The capital was secured in two tranches: £6m closed on 23 June, primarily from existing investors, and a further £2.4m finalised on 8 July, targeting new investors and strategic partners.
The company plans to use the funding to accelerate the commercial deployment of Thorvald across both sides of the Atlantic.
In the UK, Thorvald currently supports 13 leading strawberry growers and treats approximately 20% of the national crop, with a target to surpass 30% by 2026. Saga also recorded its first commercial revenue in 2025 from its new yield prediction data tool.
In the US, Thorvald is active across more than 1,300 acres of vineyards, with ambitions to triple its operational area by 2026. The robot has also been included in California’s CORE incentive programme, which provides grants for sustainable agricultural technologies.
More than 150 Thorvald 3.0 units are currently in operation during the 2025 growing season, signalling a significant shift from prototype development to widespread commercial use.
Innovative applications of technology in retail and e-commerce, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, automotive, transport & logistics, and more will be celebrated at the Robotics & Automation Awards on 29 October 2025 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
