Autonomous sidewalk delivery company Serve Robotics and on-demand drone delivery provider Wing Aviation have partnered to pilot an autonomous food delivery solution for the last mile.
In the coming months, several Wing orders will be picked up by a Serve delivery robot from a restaurant’s curb side, and taken to a Wing drone AutoLoader, for aerial delivery to customers up to six miles away.

The AI-powered robots are claimed to be a low-emission solution to last mile deliveries because they are fully electric.
The companies have said that restaurants will be able to utilise drone deliveries without changing their facilities or workflow, whilst extending the delivery area for sidewalk robots.
Dr. Ali Kashani, CEO and co-founder of Serve Robotics, said: “We’re excited to partner with Wing to offer a multi-modal delivery experience that expands our market from roughly half of all food deliveries that are within 2 miles of a restaurant, to offering 30 minute autonomous delivery across an entire city.”
Adding, Adam Woodworth, CEO at Wing, said: “At Wing, we have been delivering food and other goods directly to consumers for over five years, completing more than 400,000 commercial deliveries across three continents.
