Burgers and fries from US fast casual restaurant chain Shake Shack can now be delivered using autonomous delivery robots via Uber Eats.
Customers who order from select Shake Shack restaurants in Los Angeles, USA through the Uber Eats app may receive their order via autonomous robots developed by Serve Robotics.
The partnership marks another step forward in the expansion of sidewalk robots on Uber Eats, which has been offering Serve’s autonomous deliveries in Los Angeles since 2022, and is poised to deploy 2,000 robots across the USA in 2025.
“We’re thrilled about our collaboration with Serve Robotics and Uber Eats,” said Steph So, senior vice president of digital experience at Shake Shack. “In line with our vision of enlightened hospitality, this partnership highlights our commitment to leveraging innovation to enhance guest experiences both in and out of Shack.”

Serve said its autonomous delivery robots have been optimized for efficient route planning and are available on demand, enabling food to arrive reliably, hot/cold and fresh. The robots are also designed to maintain the security of food items during transit, providing a fully contactless delivery option.
What’s more, equipped with GPS technology and artificial intelligence, the robots can navigate urban environments, avoiding obstacles, while the all-electric robots eliminate noise and congestion, helping reduce the carbon footprint associated with traditional delivery methods.
Innovations and achievements in F&B, transport and logistics will be highlighted and celebrated at the second annual Robotics & Automation Awards on 06 November 2024 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
