LAPP USA, a supplier of cables, wires and accessories, has deployed autonomous inventory-management drones at its 134,000ft² facility in Brownsburg, Indiana.
According to LAPP, the deployment has increased the frequency of full inventory counts from twice a year to 26 and cut labour costs by 60% within the first month.
The system – an infrastructure-free, fully autonomous drone platform supplied by Corvus Robotics – was reportedly operational in weeks and now performs routine cycle counts, including night flights, generating discrepancy reports and rack-location imagery to improve visibility and accuracy.
What’s more, LAPP has eliminated weekend cycle-count overtime and redeployed staff to higher-value tasks as part of the rollout.

“The Corvus One system has been able to help us by providing better service to our customers,” said Jason Beltran, facility manager at LAPP USA.
“Getting the inventory in, in real-time, seeing where it is, and being able to allocate it right away to the customer is a tremendous benefit for us.”
LAPP’s Brownsburg site supports both cable manufacturing and nationwide distribution. By automating what was a labour-intensive counting process, the company has since reported higher accuracy and faster fulfilment alongside reduced manual hours.
