Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has confirmed it was impacted by a cyber incident and “proactively shut down” systems to mitigate its effects.
According to the automotive OEM, there is currently no evidence customer data has been stolen but that global retail and production activities have been “severely disrupted”.
The company is restarting applications “in a controlled manner” following the shutdown, which has led to temporary factory stand-downs in the UK and delays to dealership operations.
Reports indicate production staff have been told to stay home until at least Tuesday 9 September, with impacts at plants in Merseyside, the West Midlands and Wolverhampton.
Media and industry reports suggest diagnostics and parts ordering have been affected at some retailers, coinciding with the 1 September new-plate sales period. JLR said it is working at pace to restore systems and resume normal operations.
