ABB Robotics has announced the expansion of its large robot portfolio with the introduction of three new models: the IRB 6730S, IRB 6750S, and IRB 6760.
The latest additions form part of ABB’s growing range of next-generation industrial robots, first launched in 2022, and bring the total offering to 11 robot families with 60 distinct variants.
This comprehensive lineup is designed to provide manufacturers with enhanced flexibility, performance, and sustainability, as well as broader application potential across industries.
The IRB 6730S and IRB 6750S are shelf-mounted robots developed to increase production line density. Designed for installation at height or on elevated platforms, they can work in tandem with floor-mounted robots, enhancing productivity in space-constrained environments.
Capable of handling payloads up to 350kg, these models offer extended vertical and horizontal reach, making them suitable for applications such as die casting, injection moulding, and spot welding in the automotive, construction, foundry, and general manufacturing sectors.
The IRB 6760, meanwhile, targets press tending operations and is optimised for mid-sized press lines.
When paired with ABB’s carbon-fibre tooling boom, it can achieve up to 15 strokes per minute or 900 parts per hour, making it the company’s highest-performing press tending solution to date. It is aimed at use in the automotive, electronics, and general manufacturing industries.
All three robots are powered by ABB’s OmniCore controller platform, delivering up to 20% energy savings alongside high-precision motion control. The IRB 6750S, for example, offers path accuracy down to 0.9 mm when used with OmniCore.
The robots are designed to operate collaboratively in complex production environments. According to ABB, a combination of ten IRB 6730S or 6750S robots and eight floor-mounted IRB 6710, 6740 models can complete 80 spot welds on a car body in just 15 seconds, up from 70 joints with previous models.
Innovative applications of technology in retail and e-commerce, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, automotive, transport & logistics, and more will be celebrated at the Robotics & Automation Awards on 29 October 2025 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
